THE AEROSOLS

The Aerosols were a Glengormley based five piece formed in 1978. The line up was John Gray – guitar, Pete Stevenson – vocals, Steve Bingham – guitar, Paul Evans – bass and Alan Davidson – drums. Initial practice sessions took place in garages and spare rooms until they secured the use of a local primary school. However, they quickly got kicked out of there after trashing the place!

They made their live debut the following year at Glengormley Youth Centre (with Music For The Deaf, Allotropes & White Noise). They debuted original songs such as “Premature Burial", "Wrong Number" and "Voyant Symphony". They also played a handful of local gigs in the Glengormley area and in Rathcoole before changing the name to 'Final Stage’. However, the band were hampered by numerous line up changes that saw Pete Stevenson depart to be replaced by Stephen 'Mitch' Mitchell (who was the original singer with 'Pure Mania').  Alan Davidson also vacated the drum stool and a succession of stand-in drummers followed including Colin Kenny (Music For The Deaf) and Dave Lynas (Dogmatic Element). Final Stage had all but petered out by 1980.

After their demise John Gray joined Tarot XIII, and later played guitar with Burning Kisses. John currently plays with Ska tribute act Doghouse. Pete Stevenson and Alan Davidson joined the short-lived "Visuals". After this Stevenson ditched vocals, and became part time drummer for The Bits

Fast forward to 2023 and we find original drummer Alan Davidson now playing guitar for London based punk band Damage UK. Alan takes up the story “In 1986 I came to London for work, life got in the way and punk got put to one side. For the past 30 years, I'd been going to see pub rock bands etc in and around London/West London where I live. Then about 10 years I started to go and see a few local punk bands, spurred on by the 40 year punk anniversary. I got to see a good few bands including Stiff Little Fingers, Brian James, The Vibrators, Eddie and the Hot Rods, Ed Tudor Pole, the Members etc.

I started getting the bug again, so to speak. I had been playing guitar for a long time and lock-down spurred me on to get something going again. In January of 2022 I auditioned and joined Damage UK.”
