ASSAULT

Assault

Antrim band formed by Paul Rutledge around six months after Mistaken Identity had disbanded. The band were Paul Rutledge bass, Paul McElligott vocals, Alan Askin (Trotsky) drums and Rodney Pennie on guitar. Their set included a number of cover versions such as The Beatles 8 Days A Week and Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze. They also covered Secret Affair’s “Time For Action” & the Crisis classic “UK 79”. Among their original compositions were songs such as “Something Better Change” & “No Law Fuck The Orders”

Gigs at the local St Comgall’s church hall followed and they also made an appearance at Spuds in Portstewart before they called it a day.  At least one rehearsal tape still exists.

Paul has played in numerous bands throughout the 80’s and 90’s and can be found today, playing guitar in The B-Sides.
