Deja Vu formed in late 1978 from the ashes of Anarchy & The 4th Reich (see their bio elsewhere on this site). They were one of the few female fronted bands at the time in Belfast. The band recorded 2 songs for the Express and Explore album on Blue Rhythm with original singer Barbara Greer (R.I.P.). They were on the verge of a deal when Barbara left for Liverpool!

Keyboard player Alison Mason then took over on vocal duties. This incarnation of the band was Alison Mason (keyboards/vocals), Paul Rowan (Drums) Mike Scott (keyboards) Charlene (backing vocalist) and William Maxwell (guitar). The band broke up around 1984. William Maxwell had been playing guitar with the great Stop Stop Start Again until recently Fletch (ex Stage B) featured on bass. Sadly, the untimely death of their charismatic front man Paul Rowan on 27th May 2019 led to the band folding. However, William & Fletch have formed a new band, Cupboard 55. Willian also runs Time To Be Proud Record Label and indeed in 2013 released a CD featuring eight 1978 Demos by Deja Vu on his label. A track from this album can be heard below.

On 29th March 2022 Spit Records released Shellshock Rockers Vol. 3, a compilation CD of previously unreleased tracks, all salvaged from old cassette tapes. The compilation featured Deja Vu track 'All Alone', recorded live in 1981.
