FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT

The original incarnation of Family Entertainment can be traced right back to Omagh’s first punk band Straightjacket. Around 1980, the name was used by Straightjacket at a one off gig, after local complaints about a band called Straightjacket playing in a local Hall, so the band name was changed to Family Entertainment for one night.

Towards the latter end of the 1980’s a second incarnation of the band was then formed, again in Omagh. This time fronted by Paul Taggart, with Adie Connolly at the drum still and Tony (Moyni) Moynihan on guitar. Paul having played in the The Anarchists, Moyni in The Icons and Adie in Control Zone. The band later added additional guitarist Benny Causland (R.I.P.).

Paul & Aide would emerge again in 1996 in The Slaggarts.

On 29th March 2022 Spit Records released Shellshock Rockers Vol. 3, a compilation CD of previously unreleased tracks, all salvaged from old cassette tapes. This featured Family Entertainment track 'Wish You Were Here' recorded in 1987.
