Family of Noise were formed by Ian Hanna – drums and Alan Giddings - bass (both ex Acme Music). They were joined by Dee Wilson - guitar (ex The Idiots) and Alison Gibney (aka Gibby) on vocals.

In 1982 they recorded two tracks for a proposed single on Good Vibrations Records, however, the label went bust before the single could be released. A rough cassette recording of one of these tracks “Young Rebel” appeared on the 1998 bootleg album Bloodstains Across Northern Ireland Vol. 2.

Giddings was then replaced by Stuart Bailie (also ex Acme Music) and Eamon Stewart was introduced as a second guitarist. Gibby was also eventually replaced by Linda Henry on vocals. This latter line up of the band recorded a five track demo in June 1983. The songs featured were ‘Helen of Troy’, ‘Love Or Nothing’, ‘The Dambusters’, ‘Hand Of Fear’ and ‘East Of Eden before Linda left and the remaining members formed The Troubleshooters.
