F.U.A.L.

Belfast Anarcho-punk band Fuck Up And Live, abbreviated to F.U.A.L. formed in 1987. With dual vocal duties split between Louanne Martin and Petesy Burns (bass), the line up was completed by Brian McCann (guitar), Mark "Crispo" Christie (drums).

The band were born out of the Warzone Collective which formed around 1984 and by 1987, when the band formed, The Warzone had become a focal point for alternative culture in the city. It was a venue, operated Warzone Tapes, had it’s own screen printing facility, a food Co-Op, a recording studio, Veggie Cafe, had rehearsal/practice space and much much more. This versatile combo could play fast hardcore music, dark and moody punk-rock or upbeat poppy punk, all backed with politically-charged lyrics. They wasted no time in releasing a demo cassette entitled Veganic Wind, in 1988. The cassette only release included a foldout Singalong Sheet with all the lyrics to their songs. The title, being a reference to flatulence. Band members who were not on the recording are listed as Joe Carey, Dee Kyle, Sheena Bleakney and Roy Wallace.

A 13 track album was released the following year, again recorded at the Warzone and released by the Darlington based Indie Label - Meantime Records. This vinyl only release also included a 10 page A4 sized booklet. Warzone Tapes gave the album a cassette release in 1991. These recordings feature Alan on guitar. The later lineup also had Alistair, Kate, Louisa and Grant (who didn't feature on the album). F.U.A.L. gigged tirelessly through the late eighties and early nineties, until other projects drew them in other directions, not least the demands of Warzone on their individual energies.

In 2009, the Boss Tuneage label reissued Veganic Wind and F.U.A.L. together on one CD. The same label also issued Veganic Wind on a limited run vinyl in 2017
