Liar were a short-lived combo formed in West Belfast in 1982 and were Stephen ‘Punker’ McGreevy on bass, Martin Burns on drums, Pickle on vocals and Paddy O’Neill on guitar. The band taking their name from The Sex Pistols song ‘Liar’
They were an out and out punk band, they even had the Anarchy sign in their name/logo to prove it! The band played covers such as Drag You Out by The Lurkers and I’m On Fire by Chelsea at local gigs in venues such as Cosmos Youth Club and the Clubhouse on the Glen Road in Belfast.
They also had original compositions such as ‘Bad Blood’ and ‘Albert Clock Subway’, but sadly no recordings of these exist. The band morphed into The Napalm Kids in 1984 and split the following year. Many of the band members then resurfaced with post punk combo Donnelly Bros.
