MINOR CLASSICS

This four piece combo hailed from the north coast area of N. Ireland. They were Terry Blain vocals and rhythm guitar, Tim O’Hara lead guitar, Nigel McCombe bass and David Brownlow on drums. Tim and Nigel had previously played together in Cramp. Their one and only single was recorded at Hyde Park studios in Templepatrick and was produced by Clive Culbertson. It was one of the last singles released on the legendary Chiswick Records of London in March 1982, catalogue number DICE 4.The A side of single featured the track “Sign Language” (listen below) with “This Side Of Paradise“on the flip. It is a much sought after piece of Powerpop.

In 2008 1977 Records of Japan released a very limited repress on blue vinyl, limited to just 100 copies. Then in November 2010 Sing Sing Records of New York released a limited vinyl pressing of a Rip Off Records compilation album which contained two previously unreleased Minor Classic’s tracks, namely “I Don’t Like Girls” and “You’ll Never Find Love”. These tracks, together with some others had been recorded and produced by Clive Culbertson for a proposed album release, which sadly never happened.
