THE IMMORALS

Alastair "Algy" Kerr lead singer with The Immorals

The Immorals were a punk rock band formed in Bangor in 1981. The band members Alastair "Algy" Kerr (lead singer), Marty "Ugi" Oakley, (bass), Robin Benson (guitar) and Steven Sharpe (drums) and played and practiced in Project Bangor, which was a drop in or drop out centre for the youth of Bangor which was situated half way down Dufferin Avenue.  The band only lasted around 18 months however in that time they did manage to pen a number of original compositions such as Government Gangster, Romantic Git, Disco Interrogation, You Are You See (Anti Police) and Parental Decontrol. They also played a cover of So What by Anti Nowhere League. The Immorals only managed to play one gig (support to The Defects and Stalag 17) but they are still fondly remembered in Bangor.
Alastair Kerr sums it all up thus “We weren't very good and didn't take ourselves very seriously, it was just a bit of fun”
