VOICES

Short lived Belfast combo, Voices formed in 1979 and split just a year later. The band were Bobby Dixon vocals,  Pat McCaffrey , guitar, Paul McCabe, bass and Kenny Archer, drums.

The band played mainly covers of artists such as Public Image Limited, The Ramones, The Clash etc. They also had a clutch of original songs too, such as ‘Runnin’ Away’, a song about a girl who ran away from home and ended up raped and dead! Voices played a mix of school discos and church halls in the Ormeau road and Ballyhackamore areas of Belfast.

After the band split, Kenny joined the Air Force, Pat emigrated to Malaysia and singer Bobby became a nurse. Paul McCabe went on to play with reggae band Two Shots but they sadly fell apart after arranging support slot to UB40 on their Irish tour. However, the promotor asked for £750 for the honour, that was final nail in the coffin, after that Paul packed it in. Totally disillusioned.
